VESL (Volunteer Emergency Services Legacy) was established to provide support for those left behind – the partners and dependent children of volunteer emergency services personnel who died in the course of their authorised duties.
In time, the Legacy intends to expand its capabilities to be more responsive to those emergency services volunteers who have been permanently incapacitated, mentally or physically, as a result of their duties.VESL does not replace insurance or compensatory schemes already in place. The Legacy provides extra assistance to the volunteers and their families because it values their contribution to protecting life, property and nature within our vast national communities.
